A Parameter_Type will be created and then Parameter_Type will be a member of a sequence with a minimum of one element. This is equivalent to an array. Channels are equivalent to Analytical Cytometry Parameters. See PS 3.3 - 2001, starting C.10.9 Waveform Module
The FCS 3.0 model of an enumerated type is too limiting. It assumes that the hardware will be frozen in its present state. It does not mention light scatter at 45 degrees or Coulter RF impedance, which are used in the Beckman Coulter(R) hematology instruments. It also neglects the use of spectrometer array systems.
This is probably incomplete and will have to be expanded for new technologies. Since a parameter can be based on a claculation based on other parameters, the actual modality is software. FCS3.1 will include ($PnT): PMT, PD (DIODE) APD (AVALANCHE_DIODE), and CCD. These types have already been included.

Waveform Bits Allocated US 1 and Waveform Sample Interpretation Waveform Bits Allocated (5400,1004) specifies the number of bits allocated for each sample, and Waveform Sample Interpretation (5400,1006) specifies the data representation of each waveform sample. Waveform Bits Allocated shall be a multiple of 8. These data elements are related, and their defined terms are specified in Table C.10-5. The type below covers integers, fixed_point, and floats.
(003A,021A) Waveform Bits Stored US 1C.10.9.1.4.4 Waveform Bits Stored Waveform Bits Stored (003A,021A) specifies the number of significant bits within the Waveform Bits Allocated of each sample, for signed or unsigned integers. This needs a case stament for maxInclusive
This is a homogenous array with fom one to 3 dimensions. Each dimension has a choice of range, which can begin and end with any integer range and step size, which includes a prefixed unit. Thus, the size of steps do NOT have to be integers. This facilitates using arrays with pixel sizes that do not match up with integer values on nanometers or similarly microscope stage steps. This data type will cover 1 dimensional spectra (fluorescence), two dimensional images, and 3 dimensional data, such as that obtained with a confocal microscope.
PS 3.3 - 2001,Table C.8-35 X-RAY FILTRATION MODULE ATTRIBUTES Attribute Description Filter Type (0018,1160) SH 3. A monochromatic laser need not have an excitation filter. These data types have been put together for ease of creation. They will be split between excitation and emission.
